Early Learning Support Teacher

Shepherd’s Way Day School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dedicated Early Learning Support Teacher to join our team. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our center and plays a key part in creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally rich environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The Support Teacher provides classroom coverage, supports daily routines, and helps ensure that every child receives high‑quality care and attention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide warm, attentive care to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, ensuring safety, supervision, and emotional support.
- Support classroom routines, including feeding, bottle preparation, diapering, and assisting with potty training.
- Engage children in age‑appropriate activities such as songs, stories, sensory play, and simple learning experiences.
- Build positive, responsive relationships with children and help maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment.
- Observe children and assist with documenting developmental milestones.
- Communicate with families in a professional, friendly manner regarding daily activities and child well‑being.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized classroom spaces and materials.
- Provide scheduled breaks and lunch coverage for classroom teachers.
- Assist with center‑wide tasks and transitions to support smooth daily operations.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare or early learning setting preferred.
- Understanding of basic child development principles and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to engage children in meaningful, age‑appropriate activities.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift and carry children, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
